The iScript Netcast is a bi-weekly audio and/or video podcast whose sole purpose is to allow scripters of all skill to learn something new about the world of AppleScript. Episodes range in length but are generally around 15 to 20 minutes and include screenshots of scripts for listeners to follow along. The concept of using the enhanced audio files (AAC) for the Netcast is not a new idea but is implemented in such a way that the listener will understand and enjoy. The host for the iScript Netcast is Jesse Almanrode from JA Computing. He has been a Mac user since the early 1990's when his family bought their first computer, an Apple Performa 475, and has been using Macintosh Computers ever since. He has been using AppleScript for almost 9 years and publishes scripts and full-featured AppleScript applications in XCode on his website. For a complete resume' and more information on Jesse please visit his website. Jesse began the iScript Netcast in December 2006 although the concept of an "informational AppleScripting Netcast" had been stewing in his brain for a long time. His love of AppleScript and lack of finding an AppleScripting Netcast in the iTunes Music Store prompted him to take his idea and make it a reality. While many of the concepts discussed on the iScript Netcast are basic to AppleScripting Jesse does plan on taking the iScript Netcast to an advanced scripting level at some point in the future. The iScript Netcast is recorded using Garageband and edited on a 24 inch iMac running the latest version of 10.6. For audio imput, the iScript Netcast consists of a RadioShack Super-Cardioid Dynamic Microphone and a Focusrite Saffire DSP for a clear, completely digital, signal via Firewire. Screen captures are performed with Shinny White Box's iShowU software (For those of you out there who care... I knew about this software before Alex Lindsay of the Pixel Corp!). The theme for the iScript Netcast was composed by the lead guitarist from the band Aliens And Strangers and the web hosting for this site is provided by NetFirms. |
